WMV on a Mac

Is there a tool to convert or an application to play WMVs on a Mac?

Absolutely. There are two applications I recommend. The first is Flip4Mac, which allows you to play WMV files on your Mac, and to convert files to the Windows Media format. They have different versions, starting at $29.
We currently use Visual Hub to create most of our formats for GeekBrief.TV, including the WMV version. It’s a great conversion tool, that quickly and easily converts files to a broad range of file types. It’s $23.32. This is a conversion tool only, it will not allow you to play files on your Mac.

Thank you Cali!
I personally recommend VLC. It can play ANYTHING. So if you go with the VisualHub converter, then you can use VLC as a player for all of those pesky codecs that you can’t find. :D

I, for one, am a die hard Flip4Mac user. I find it more “pro” than VH, and value the personal support I can get from Telestream…as well as their commitment to updates.
Perian seems to be a good compliment to F4M for compatibility playback. I rarely use VLC, but it can come in handy for avi.
Anyway…thanks for the discussion.
I’m pretty sure Flip4Mac is a free download for those who just want WMV playback capability. You need to pay for the conversion capability, but if all you need is playback, you can save yourself the $30. VLC is another alternative as mentioned above.
