Transfer Songs from iPod to a Different Computer

I have a MacBook Pro, an old iMac, and an 80 gig video ipod. My main computer is the laptop so I buy my songs from there, but my iMac is my music hub and I would like to transfer the songs via the iPod. How can I get my songs from my iPod to my iMac? I thought that was supposed to be an addition to iTunes 7. Thanks for the time.

iTunes 7 provides more flexibility, and it is possible to access the files to copy them, but it’s not the most simple solution. You can use a third party application to copy songs from your iPod to your other computer. Floola is one that I’ve used in the past. It’s available for Mac, PC and Linux, and it’s free. When you open Floola and have your iPod plugged in, you can right click on the songs you want to copy and click “Copy To…”.

if you have all the music/other files on your laptop and want to get all that data onto your iMac, you can plug your iPod into your laptop, make sure your iPod has disk mode enabled and use the iPod like a portable HD, I’ve only used the iPod on a Windows PC, so I’ve gone to My Computer and double clicked on the iPod drive and a window opened, just like it would if I clicked on the C: drive and I’ve dragged and dropped my files from my C: drive to my iPod drive.
I’m assuming that when you plug an iPod into a Mac, an icon shows up on the desktop, just the same as when you plug in any USB Flash drive or like when you insert a CD and you should be able to double click that icon and a window will open and you can just copy all your data onto the iPod that way.
