Switching to Mac

I’m planning on buying my first Mac. I’ve been a Windows user my whole life. People always say how great Macs are, but I’m a little nervous. What can I do to make the switch easy?

Macs are very user-friendly, and I love Macs! However, I always give a warning when talking to someone who’s switching. Give yourself about a week to really adjust to it. We all say it’s so much simpler than Windows, but I’m afraid that gives switchers a false impression. When you’ve grown used to the Windows way of doing things, the Mac way doesn’t immediately feel easier. After you’ve given it time, though, you’ll see what everyone means. :)
These sites have some great information:
Apple, Switch 101
Tao of Mac
Switching to Mac
I also highly recommend the book Switching to the Mac: The Missing Manual by David Pogue and Adam Goldstein. It is excellent.
UPDATE: Two readers, Sean and Loren, reminded me of two resources I forgot to mention - Mac OS X Hints and ScreenCasts Online. Thanks, guys!

Eh, mac sucks.
If it’s any help, I made the switch about 18-months ago; and I’ve not looked back since. The one tip I’d give, is don’t try and force your Mac to be a PC… The learning curve is pretty gentle; but take the time to learn how to interact with Mac OS X (it’ll take about a day – maybe less): and embrace the way that the Mac does things!
You won’t regret it…
