Personal Recommendations

I get hundreds of tech questions a day, and try as I might, I can’t answer every one. So many of the questions I get ask for product recommendations.

A device that would perfectly meet my needs could be a lousy choice for you because your needs are particularly unique. I’ve taken a cue from David Pogue and offering some general suggestions.

If you’re wondering whether you should buy a iPod Classic or iPod Touch, go for the Touch.

Which phone should you buy? Right now, I can’t recommend anything other than an iPhone.

It’s especially hard for me to recommend a camera, camcorder or home theater system because your final choice will be extremely specific to your lifestyle and goals. If you’re looking for a camcorder, you can spend hours on CamcorderInfo.com. They do the most thorough reviews and almost every camcorder you might consider is covered in depth on the site.

DigitalCameraReview.com, Imaging-Resource.com and DPReview.com are great for digital cameras. eHomeUpgrade.com is my favorite resource for learning about home theatre equipment. Take a look around and I think you’ll be able to find a solution that fits your needs and lifestyle.

iMage is the best USB webcam I’ve found specifically made for a Mac. For PCs, my pick is the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000.

If you’re looking for specific recommedations for podcasting, THAT I can help with! My podcasting setup is here.
