Music in Podcasts
My friends and I are considering starting a podcast and we need music for the show’s opening and closing. I have tried Creative Commons and found some okay music, but I was also wondering were GBTV got its music… Are there any sites that offer completely free, legal, and royalty free music?
For GeekBrief.TV, we use a combination of jingles from GarageBand and the Podsafe Music Network. For the most original stuff, we hire Geoff Smith. He writes brilliant jiggles and show themes that are impossible to get out of my head.
Short music for openings and closings are a little harder to find, but if you find a longer song and you like a short part of it, consider asking the artist if they’re willing for you to use that part of the song on a regular basis. Remember to give credit to the artist!
If you have an ear for music you can build original music using loop applications like GarageBand or Soundtrack Pro.
