Multi-screen Wallpapers

Q

I just watched your latest Brief #235 and i noticed that you were at a desk that had 3 monitors and they were sharing the same wallpaper. I have been looking everywhere for something that will let me do this! I have two screens attached to my mac pro (one apple wide screen display, and one cheaper Samsung, and then a G5. I really want to span the same image across all three monitors. Do you know of a way to do this?

A

What you see with our three monitor setup in Brief #235 is one picture cut up into three pieces. All three monitors are connected directly to the Mac Pro. Sometimes looking for software to do a job is more than what you really need. You can open your picture in Photoshop, or whatever graphics editing program you like, and quickly cut the picture into two or three images.

PCs and Macs see multiple monitors differently. Macs see them as different monitors. PCs see multiple monitors as one. For this reason, if you’re on a PC, you can download a free program called Display Fusion that allows you to span the same image across multiple screens, or use different images on each monitor. You can see how Display Fusion works on The Dear Cali Show #8.

    [PC User]

I searched and searched and searched for software to provide me a multi screen wallpaper solution, but the only ones that were free messed my computer up in some other way.

My most recent solution doesn’t require any software at all, simple choose an image that is the same resolution as all three of your monitors, and select “tile” instead of stretch or center, then it automatically stretches across both.

I will still check out ‘Display Fusion’ in case it wasn’t one that I’ve previously seen and it may have extra benefits to me.

Just thought I’d tip anyone of as this annoyed me no end, and a software free solution is best I find
