Q

You always have good things to say about Mevio, but when I go to the site, I can’t figure it out. What do I need to do to get a show on mevio.com?

A

I get that question a lot, and they’re actually working to improve it. Here’s what you do:

Go to Mevio.com. Sign up for a free account. VERY important note: You’ll choose a name that will become your home (ex: cali.podshow.com). This is YOUR name, not the name of the show. You’ll choose your show name later.

Click on Master Control

A

Here, you have two options. If you already have an existing show, you can use the Feed Vacuum to move all your files over so your files aren’t hosted in two places. Click “Import an Existing Show” if this is the case for you. If you will be starting a new show, click “Create a New Show”.

A

Follow the instructions on the next screens to Import a Show or Create a Show. Anytime you want to do something with your show, you’ll find it under Master Control.

What you see first are the controls for your personal page. You can edit your profile, manage your friends, etc.

A

Under that, you’ll find a list of your shows. Click on one and you’ll get options to edit your show, upload shows, view your show statistics, etc.

A

To upload a new episode, click “Show Episodes”, then “Add a New Episode”. Fill out the shownotes, title and tags, and click “Upload”. You’re done!

Edited 8/13/08: changed PodShow to Mevio (they changed their name) and updated some information.

Wow — I’m the first to comment on this great advice? Thanks, as always, Cali, for your willingness to share tips with us beginners. Great to have someone take you by the hand sometimes and guide you when you’re venturing into unknown territory.

Thank you so much, Cali for sharing this.

It’s almost a year later now, and I thiink Podshow’s layout has improved. I never realized they offered free bandwidth before I read this?

I remember the early days when everyone used Libsyn. Why would someone use Libsyn now?

  3. Ettiene Says:

There is a way to sindicate podshow (well now mevio) for itunes? I uploaded some videos, but they are always converted to flash, and i tryed to suscribe to my feed in mevio in itunes, but the shows that i already have doesnt download. The last video that i uploaded was in mp4, and they say one of their purposes is podcasting? so… can you explain me a little bit?

  4. Cali Says:

@Ettiene - Sounds like you’re uploading to Flash rather than uploading to your “Show”. In the Master Control choose the picture of your show then “Show Episodes” then “New Episode”.

    Does that make sense?

Great advice Cali. I too was wondering how it was done @ Podshow network. Very very cool!

Thanks Cali, I needed to see this. You can disregard the message on your forum as you have answered it here.

Have a great day, get better soon.

I really appreciate all that you give to your followers even though I am new to you. I don’t see how you have the time to provide as much information as you do to everyone.

    Thanks again.

    Wow.

I don’t know if they could have made that more confusing. Without your instructions here I would have moved along and used Adobe’s FLV converter and just uploaded it myself.

Thank-you for these very helpful instructions.

One thing people may want to note is that after you’re in the shows, the browse/upload option is way down at the bottom of the page. Something to look for down lower.

Again Cali, thanks for posting these instructions!

    Warmest,

    Hi Cali,

Can you broadcast live with mevio? What program do you think is best to broadcast live?

I love your work! Would you be interested in consulting me/coaching?
