iPhone & iPod Touch WebClips

I am trying to add a favicon to my website for bookmarking with the iPhone or iPod Touch. I have already created the apple-touch-icon.png, but I am not having any luck on where to put the png file inside of WordPress.

With the most recent iPhone and iPod Touch software update, version 1.1.3, users can now bookmark their favorite Web sites directly to the home screen for easier access. Web site owners are going to want to control what shows up when someone bookmarks their site. You can do this by creating a WebClip.
Here’s what to do:
1) Create a .png file that’s 57×57 pixels. This should be your icon, a close up picture, or something similar to what you would use as a favicon.
2) Name the file “apple-touch-icon.png”.
3) Upload the file to the root directory of your site. You’ll do this with an FTP client, not in WordPress itself. Open the FTP client of your choice and log in to your site using the information from your host. The root directory is the location where your files begin, for example: ftp://www.yoursite.com. That’s where you’ll see all your files and folders.
4) Test it on your iPhone or iPod Touch to make sure it’s working, and you’re done! Oh, and notice how Safari automatically adds that glassy look to your bookmark.

Cali,
This is my question. 1) I made a png file. 2) I named it apple-touch-icon.png. 3) I use WS FTP Professional and went to the root directory and uploaded the file. 4) tested it and didn’t work.
Don’t I have to put a line of code somewhere? How does the web site know I added a png file?
Thanks
Durwin,
I just gave this a try, and it did work with no additional code. Make sure you put the .png in the “yourdomainname.com” folder, not the “/” folder. Also note, this is specifically for the Home Screen of the Touch or iPhone. It does not show up in the bookmarks list.
