I tried the suggested method on my MacBook Pro using version 7.2 (34) and as soon as I hit the 'Cancel' option the ipod is not listed on the left. I will try this on a Windows machine and let you know if there is a different result. I double checked on the newest version of iTunes just to make sure nothing had changed since I did it last and I didn't have any problems. When I tried this (I've done it before) on a new machine that I wanted to get some MP3's from, when I hit cancel, the iPod never shows up in iTunes. I have been using it on Nano, Video (60GB), and Photo (60GB) iPods with superb results and it is very stable. Not good support yet for videos or video podcasts yet (better support coming) BUT it does dual-boot into the old iPod UI where nothing has changed!
