Getting More From Your Mac

Q

I purchased my Black MacBook over a year ago. I have been a PC person my whole life. I do not feel that I can manipulate this machine nearly as well as I could be abe to. The store at which I bought this machine offers Mac training for $100. This package lasts for an entire year which I could use everyday, within said year. Would this training for EVERY in and out of this machine be worth it? Should I make sure that they will teach me every little thing about it before I purchase the plan?

A

The in-store training can be very useful for a switcher. They will teach you anything you want to know about any Apple-sold software or Microsoft Office. Beyond that, most Apple employees will be happy to teach you whatever you want to know about the Mac, provided they know. For example, there are going to be some employees who know Adobe products, and others who will be better at showing you little known tricks for getting the most out of your Mac.

If there are specific things you want to know, just go in to the store and ask if there’s someone at that particular store who will be able to teach you. It’s okay to say “this is what I could do on my PC, and I want to know what the equivalent is on the Mac”. There are also free Mac 101 classes weekly, so those would be helpful to attend.
