Finding a Wii

Q

We’d like to get a Wii for my sister for her birthday, but can’t find it anywhere! It’s literally dropped off the face of the earth. Is there any chance you know where to find one? Even if you don’t, I was wondering what games you had for the Wii and how you liked them. We’re interested in “Trauma Center: Second Opinion”, mainly because I’m planning on going into medicine and our household is a huge Grey’s Anatomy one.

A

I was lucky enough to come across a Wii by accident. Actually, five of them. We had to do a double-take to make sure they were real! We found ours at Sam’s Club. Some other people have had success at Sam’s as well. You can also try a Wii Finder like this one from FindNearby.net. It appears stores are no longer sharing their inventory information, so it’s up to the community to participate and help each other find the consoles.

Nintendo has ramped up production, so I’m expecting the scarcity to only last a little while longer.

My favorite games are Wii Sports, which comes with the Wii console, and Super Swing Golf. Super Swing is cutsy, but challenging. I’ve tried a few others, like Red Steel and Wii Play, but wasn’t impressed. I loved Super Paper Mario, but didn’t buy it because it’s a sit-down game. I’m using the Wii for exercise.

I haven’t played Trauma Center. It’s not my kind of game, but if you’re a Grey’s Anatomy fan, it’s probably a good choice!

I found one at an EB Games store, they had had 2 for 2 days, b/c no one asks for them…..so ask anywhere you may never know!

I would check Toys ‘R Us. Many of my co-workers had luck finding their Wii’s there, since no one bothers to think of that store!

Best of luck on your journey to the land of Wii!

Target, Best Buy, and Circuit City usually have them in stock almost every Sunday. The best thing to do is to watch for the Sunday ad, and get to the store as soon as they open.

Trauma Center is a great game (I have it for DS not Wii) but it does get really frustrating. The game goes from being relatively easy to being insanely hard. All in all I would highly recommend it, just be forewarned, at some point in the game you will get very mad.
