Easy Web Development

Q

I am looking for a open source content management platform like WordPress, but one that doesn’t require me to know or learn HTML. Maybe a drag and drop style. I currently have a web site which is created with Front Page (yes, I said Front Page), and a hosting plan that has MySQL and PHP.

I want to be able to give my existing site a facelift and make it “web 2.0″ and start a second web site (a sub-domain) for blogging.

I’m devoted to Wordpress.  It’s so simple to use and it can be installed on a sub-domain. If you do email, you can do Wordpress. You don’t need to know HTML at all. You just type what you want and use the text editor buttons to create the code in the background.

Designers are constantly releasing new themes for Wordpress, and it’s not hard to find a template that sets you apart.

If you want a site that has a bit more flexibility than Wordpress, you have a few options. Joomla and Mambo are both open source and free, but I’ve known people to have issues with both. I suggest Drupal, which is also free. An example of a site done in Drupal is TWiT.TV. It’s more complicated to learn than Wordpress, but it adds a large amount of flexibility.
