A/V Sync Issues with Streaming Video

Q

Sometimes streaming video over the Internet is a little jerky and the sound is out of sync with the picture. Is this fixable?

A

A/V sync issues can be caused by a couple things. It may be that the original file is out of sync, in which case nothing can be done. If the original file is in sync, or if it’s live streaming video, the issue is most likely caused by your connection.

Make sure you have the latest versions of Quicktime or Flash, depending on how you’re watching the streaming video. You can also try pausing the video and starting it up again. That may or may not help. But at least it’ll make you feel like you’re doing something! :)

Web video isn’t perfect yet, especially in streaming form. If you’re enjoying video on the Web, you’re on the cutting edge. The rest of the world will catch up after we work out the kinks.
