All Those Shirts I Wear on GeekBrief.TV

I watch your show all the time. I have a non-tech question. How many shirts do you own? It seems like you have an endless wardrobe. Do you worry about re-wearing the same clothes on each episode?

LOL! I can’t explain why it feels weird to wear the same shirt more than once on GBTV, but it does. In my everyday life, I tend to wear the same few shirts until they wear out. I wear the shirts we get for the show two and sometimes three times. It seems wasteful, but wearing different shirts seems like a kind of a shorthand way to communicate quickly that you’re watching a new episode.
Wardrobe is really the only thing I don’t enjoy about doing Geek Brief. I don’t like to shop. Neal does, so he gets the privilege :) In 2006, we spent way too much on wardrobe. We expected it to be tax-deductible. Our accountant said it isn’t. That wasn’t a pleasant surprise. We’re doing much better this year.
All that to say we’ve done 206 shows as of 5/25/2007. I think I have maybe 120 shirts. I have to figure out what to do with them.

Cali,
I suggest that you raffle off your shirts to your fans. I’d frame the shirt and hang it on the wall with your photo wearing the shirt along with geek notes and the date of the show you wore it on. Another idea would be to sell then to your fans already in a display. Maybe Ebay would work? I like the raffle idea better! Keep them in the family… :-)
Oh, i know a few hundred thousand GeekBrief fans that would probably buy them from you, if you were to , you know, like auction them off or something… :-)
Ebay’s definitley a good idea - you could sell them off and use the money to fund new shirts…
And for those of us who express some of our creativity through our online t-shirt stores (hey I can’t always travel) what is missing from your collection? :-)
I’d suggest eBaying the autographed (by the entire production team, of course) and donating some (or all) of the funds do a charity of your choice.
I like the auction idea with some funds dedicated toward additional shirts and remaining funds to charity! An excellent way to ‘brand’ the GB image.
Auction them off and use ebay’s feature that allows you to donate part of the profits to charity. I’m sure you’ll make plenty of money and it’s a great way to give money to a cause you care about.
Hey Cali, why not get you’re audience to send you random shirts that they think are cool, that could work too, and then you could like ebay them for charity :)
Cali,
If we wanted to send you a T-Shirt what size do you prefer and where could we send it ?
“If we wanted to send you a T-Shirt”… and are there types of t-shirts you won’t wear, i.e. with logos, college names, etc.?
